May 2021 is Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental health is a struggle for Black Educators. Join ABENY Inc., Adelaide Sanford Institute, and Black Edfluencers United  (BE-U) 10am Saturday May 1st to learn about mental health, its impact on Black Educators, and steps to begin healing/addressing. We will be joined by the following esteemed individuals:

Licensed Social Worker Chaka Phaire brings over 25 years of mental health experience to the field, working with children, young adults, and families. Chaka has received awards and recognition for his work from the NYC Department of Education and several community-based organizations.

Association of Black Educators of New York President-Elect Adrian Straker serves as Guidance Counselor in the New York City Department of Education. She is a staunch advocate for Black students, educators, and the community serving in the office of the Brooklyn Borough President and local community boards.

New York Association of Black Psychologists President Dr. Dana Collins is committed to the empowerment of marginalized individuals and communities, challenging systemic injustices, raising awareness about mental health and reducing stigma, addressing trauma, and redefining self-care.

Registration is open through April 30th. This virtual program will take place via Zoom. For optimal participation, you will need a computer with internet and audio. Details to access the meeting will be sent to registrants 12 to 24 hours before the event, so please keep an eye out for the email (and check your spam folder if you don't see it!).
