ABENY Inc., is proud to present the 2023 Virtual Fall Education Convening, which will take place on Saturday, November 11th from 1 pm - 3 pm. This year's theme is "Building Upon the Brilliance of African American Scholars." This theme is reflective of ABENY's participation as one of the coalition partners in the creation of New York City's first interdisciplinary, Black Studies as the Study of the World pre-K to 12: Black Studies Curriculum Guide as outlined in the Education Equity Action Plan. ABENY is proud of how the lessons will enhance the learning of all students, and "build upon the brilliance of our African American scholars.
VIRTUAL EDUCATION CONVENING KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Our illustrious plenary Keynote Speaker will be Dr. Sean Davenport, Superintendent of District 5, Manhattan. Dr. Davenport was the first superintendent to oversee the piloting of the New York City Black Studies Curriculum, and will share the experience, offering his insights about the positive aspects, as well as challenges.

OTHER FEATURED SPEAKERS
Simone Adjei.
Ms. Adjei has been an ABENY vendor at past education conferences and is well versed in integrating multicultural themes into classroom literature via technology. She has a background in education and over 15 years of invaluable experience in the field, particularly in early childhood literacy and education technology. Ms. Adjei is currently the Co-Founder and Content Director of iReadify, a global digital library of children's books with divese characters and narratives, provding young readers with positive and culturally responsive content. Children 14 and under can read ebooks, engage with read-aloud text, and listen to audiobooks in many languages with authentic dialiects, such as Haitian Creole and Jamaican Creole. Most recently, PS 3O in Manhattan has implemented the iReadify program with success.
Monique Antoine. Ms. Antoine is the Assistant Principal of Humanities at Clara Barton High School in Brooklyn. She is currently an Executive Board Member of the Association of Black Educators of New York. Moreover, as a longtime member of the New York City Association of Assistant Principals, Supervision, English, Ms. Antoine has been a strong voice in how afrocentric themes might be infused in high school literature and literacy classes.
